requesting read receipts

Requesting Read Receipts

I've selected the option "Request a read receipt for all sent messages" but I did not receive an e-mail confirming that the e-mail that I sent had been read. Is this a known bug with WLMD, has anyone experienced this?

I know it works with digitally signed messages. Don't recall if I tried it without. But seems it should work either way. Did you send the message to yourself and answer Yes when asked about sending the receipt? If you send it to someone else, they can answer No and you won't get the receipt.

Hi Alan,
Yes, I sent the e-mail to my comcast e-mail account but I was not prompted for an answer to say "Yes" when asked about sending the receipt.

Hmm, I just tried it without digital signatures/secure receipts, and it still worked fine. I'm using Comcast too. Don't know why it didn't work for you. I did it by choosing the option to request receipts for all messages in Windows Mail Options dialog box.

I just sent myself another e-mail and once again I was not prompted to answer "Yes" for sending the mail receipt, were you? Did you get a confirmation e-mail that the message you sent had been read or opened?
My options are set up this way - On the Receipts tab I have selected "Request a read receipt for all sent messages". Returning Read Receipts is set to "Notify me for each read receipt request". I'm I missing something?

I sent myself another test e-mail, but this time I sent it to my hotmail account and I was prompted to answer Yes or No for sending the mail receipt. I answered yes and received the confirmation e-mail. Not sure as to why it did not work when I sent it to my other account...maybe there is a mail preference option that needs to be changed?
